On the electromagnetic shielding properties of carbon fiber materials

Introduction. Due to the good electrical and thermal properties of carbon, carbon-based materials represent a major trend is various applications, including electromagnetic compatibility. Among materials, graphite-impregnated woven fabrics new in field shielding, with perspective being used for protective clothing. The novelty proposed work consists exhaustive comparative analysis sample shields by employing both simulation experimental methods. selected configurations included simple graphite plate, powder strip network, fabric 2´2 twill weave. Purpose. main scope prove efficiency shielding. Methods. Two research methods were employed: experiment, following same protocol: shield placed middle, excitation (transmitting antenna) on one side measurement / receiving antenna other. stage was thorough, performed two different laboratories applying double transverse (TEM) cell method shielded box method. Results. A significant difference yielded from comparison results shielding effectiveness, probably due fact that virtual model an idealized version physical one, not taking into account its imperfections. plate as most efficient, followed closely fabric. network had significantly poorer performance compared other shields, contact imperfections between strips optical transparency shield. focus fabric; therefore, effectiveness determined through experiment. stages compatibility laboratories, TEM method, respectively, providing similar classifying good. Practical value. paper provides accurate terms methods, comparing graphite-based shields.
